PRO7ECT ANNOUNCES 2017 SONGWRITERS RETREAT

MAY 2016: Pro7ect is returning to Brighton, UK's Hotel Pelirocco from March 12th-17th 2017 for another stimulating week of musical collaboration, and for the second year running acclaimed producer Andrew Levy will be taking part in the event. The official launch of Pro7ect 2017 will take place at the Hotel Pelirocco on Friday 20th May 2016 during The Great Escape music conference & festival. It will feature a performance by Eddie Prove, a guest artist from this year's retreat, and will be broadcast live by 1Brighton FM.

APRIL 2016: Co-owned by top writer/producer Max Martin, Abba's Björn Ulvaeus and Avicii manager Ash Pournouri, new music rights management hub Auddly allows songwriters and producers to keep track of all their projects from inception to release, including versions, lyrics, stems and split sheets. WORLD WIDE MUSIC CONTEST LAUNCHES NEW SITE

London, January 2016: World Wide Music Contest (WWMC), the website dedicated to supporting emerging talents throughout the world through music contests, has announced the release of their new website, now online at worldwidemusicontest.com. After the success of the first edition in which 16 prizes were handed out to winners from all over the world, WWMC has opened the second contest and introduced new advanced services to further support musicians in their career. The winners will receive their prizes in money: €2000 euros for the best song and €1000 euros for the best video, they will get both a radio and video interview; the first will be broadcast several times on the WWMC web radio, the second posted on the website. NEW SONGWRITER TV SERIES LAUNCHES IN 2016

LONDON, December 2015: Tin Pan Alley TV is a 10 week series that will run on Showbiz TV (Sky 266) and other platforms early in 2016. There will be a set-up programme and a final programme with the eight-week series running in between. The series will be presented by broadcaster and songwriter Mike Read, produced by Scott Millaney and directed by a multi-award winning director whose name will be revealed in the New Year.

EUROVISION SONGWRITER CAMP A BIG SUCCESS

HILVERSUM, August 2015: The recent DWB / Basevalley / Amphion Eurovision Songwriting Camp in Veenendaal (Netherlands), supported by SongLink, has finally drawn to a close, writes Bruce R. F. Smith. The general consensus of opinion is that it has been a resounding success, combining exceptional talent in a congenial atmosphere of creativity. The camp, unique in the Netherlands, was initiated by DWB head of publishing & A&R, Greig Watts, and longtime SongLink subscriber & songwriter, Bruce R. F. Smith. A special thanks is also due to Basevalley managers Willem Diepeveen and Dennis van der Molen; the engineering wizard Jan Pronk;, and last but not least to Bernard Knoop from Amphion for helping make this dream a reality.

PRS FOR MUSIC LAUNCHES LYNSEY DE PAUL PRIZE

PRS for Music Foundation and the PRS for Music Members Benevolent Fund have launched the Lynsey de Paul Prize in memory of the late songwriter and PRS Board member. Recognising Lynsey's passion for helping young women in to the music industry, the career-developing prize has been set up to help emerging female singer-songwriters. The winner will receive a £2,000 development bursary and mentorship, and two runners up will each receive a £500 development bursary.

Fourteen years ago Irish singer/songwriter Paul Brady played 23 gigs at the legendary Vicar Street venue in Dublin. Many artists had sung Paul's songs over the years and in October 2001 he decided to invite some of them to play with him. Joining Paul and his band was a different artist every night, sometimes several. Indeed, as he says himself "At times I was a spectator in my own show as my guests, my friends, took the roof off Vicar Street. I knew then we'd captured something special."
