MIEL'S ALBUM SURRENDERS TO THE FEELING
London, March 2019: UK singer/songwriter Miel de Botton proves that that it is never too late to dream, and that those dreams can come true. Having endured some difficult times in her family life, and searching for fulfilment, the London-based mother of two took a giant step into the unknown and embarked on a music career in 2014, recording her debut album 'Magnetic' with Andy Wright (Simply Red, Eurythmics, Jeff Beck, Imelda May). Since then she has embarked on a number of concerts in the UK and worldwide, including a series of intimate, sold-out concerts at Crazy Coqs, The Pheasantry and Dean Street jazz club.

Miel also supported both John Barrowman and Rhydian Roberts on their UK tours and performed at key festivals including 'Camp Bestival' and 'Carfest'. Fast forward to 2019 and Miel is back with her stunning new album 'Surrender To The Feeling' set for release on April 5th, while she is about to go out on tour with Wet Wet Wet.
'Surrender to the feeling, the bliss, the healing'.. This line really does sum up the power and beauty of this album and is an insight into the journey Miel has been on over the last few years. She is an artist who deeply feels, observes, and is inspired by nature and the quest for inner peace and this has, in turn, become her main inspiration when writing her new album. The album feels like a window into the very soul of Miel de Botton, a joyful and profound musical journey.
"I love to observe things in nature and they provoke feelings and thoughts which I then like to convert into music." This was evident in the first track to be released from the album 'I Was Given Nature'. The single was chosen to represent a campaign by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) called Connect2earth. Miel's haunting and delicately beautiful vocals are featured on their Connect2earth video, which tells a powerful message on how we need to urgently prioritise our planet's well-being. The lyrics provide the sound bed to a very important global initiative from the WWF.
The tracks 'How Are You So Grounded?' and 'Unique Flower' are both steeped in Miel's deep love of nature and express how important it is to feel anchored in the Earth. Miel also explores addictive behaviour in 'Is It Enough?', perhaps a nod back to her time in Paris, where she worked as a psychologist with families struggling with addiction. It is also a metaphor for our modern day lives and the strong pressure to succeed, leading us perhaps to turn to medication or drugs for comfort. We are entreated to 'bare our souls' to kind strangers who can help us heal.
It has taken many years for Miel to adjust her life in order to enjoy a rewarding sense of wellbeing and to learn many lessons as to how to preserve it. In the song 'Bittersweet' Miel says: "Let yourself be guided; follow the utmost joy". The joy is evident and intertwined throughout each song on this uplifting, soul searching, effervescent album. It is a soundtrack for anyone that has been hurt or felt lost or lonely. An album of hope, finding yourself, rediscovering who you really are, who you really want to be, and ultimately letting go of the fear and finding peace. 'White Feather', gently brings the album to an end with the message 'the dance, the prayer, the song will make it better'.
Miel will be touring with Wet Wet Wet from May 3rd at Cambridge Corn Exchange through to May 19th at London's Adelphi Theatre. To stream, download or buy the album visit:
