London, April 2024: MiCANNES 2024 (aka Music International Cannes) will launch the third edition of its independent music networking conference, awards ceremony and showcase event in Cannes, France from Tuesday 4th June to Friday 7th June. Following the success of a highly successful second edition in 2023, this year's event will primarily take place at the Mondrian Hotel (formerly the Grand) situated on La Croisette, while the nearby Eden Hotel on the Rue d'Antibes will serve as a second venue for 'Show & Tell' screenings and Q&A sessions. In addition Morrison's Bar will host all the artist showcases as programmed by Ben Steadman.
There will be a number of sponsored events, including Panels, live music showcases, Music Documentary Film Screenings, cocktail parties, lunches and dinners. In addition, the second MiCannes Awards lunch will take place at the Mondrian Hotel on June 5th with the event already a sell-out. Nominations for this year's awards will be announced in early May, while last year's winners included Wet Leg (Artist of the Year); Ren as Songwriter of the Year - four months later he hit Number 1 album in the UK with Sick Boi; Martin Hall (Artist Manager); Korda Marshall (the inaugural Malcolm Dunbar A&R Award); Nigel Elderton of Peermusic (Music Mogul); 'Blitzed' (Music Documentary) and Yungblud (Young Music Mogul).
Panelists at MiCannes 2024 will include artist manager documentary maker and music industry legend Simon Napier-Bell; former Warners and Virgin Records senior executive Jeremy Marsh, now chairman of Jemarco LLP; former BBC and C4 commissioner Jan Younghusband, now an independent producer; Dave Mclean, MD of Riverman, manager of Placebo and concert promoter; Mark Garfield of Pop-Up Music; tour manager Andy Bernstein; business consultant Eva Wimmers, CEO, Geistesblizz GmbH and many others. Panel sessions will take place at the Mondrian while the Eden Hotel's cinema will host shorts and animations curated by Laurie Gordon (Montreal International Animaze Director). Meanwhile 'Show and Tell' screenings and Q&A's will take place with Dave Mclean followed by Simon Napier-Bell talking about his Wham! film and forthcoming Marquee Club documentary.
Last year's second edition of MiCannes attracted over 600 registrations with attendees including many artists, songwriters, DJs and producers as well as artist managers, representatives from record companies, music publishers, festival and live music organisers, accountants and lawyers, sync agencies, TV & Film executives and others. 2023 sponsors included: PRS for Music, New Media Law LLP, Peermusic, Notting Hill Music, Synclodge, Jam Music, RSVP, Performance Rights, Plan C Music, SongLink, Splash Stories Podcast and Highclere Castle Gin among others.
