MARK CAWLEY'S SONG JOURNEY BEGINS

MARK CAWLEY'S SONG JOURNEY BEGINS

Nashville, April 2019: Top U.S songwriter & coach Mark Cawley's new book "Song Journey" was launched on April 2nd. "In short, the book is based on the coaching I do with songwriters," says Mark. "The subtitle is 'A Hit Songwriter's Guide Through the Process, the Perils and the Payoff of Writing Songs for a Living' - and that about sums it up. It's a combination of the tools needed and filled with my own stories to illustrate teaching points. The intention was NOT to write a dry "how to" book but to bring some humor into the process of songwriting."

Mark is a hit U.S. songwriter and musician who coaches other writers and artists to reach their creative and professional goals. During his decades in the music business he has procured a long list of cuts with legendary artists ranging from Tina Turner, Joe Cocker, Chaka Khan and Diana Ross to Wynonna Judd, Kathy Mattea, Russ Taff, Paul Carrack, Will Downing, Tom Scott, Billie Piper, Pop Idol winners and the Spice Girls. To date his songs have been on more than 16 million records. In the late 70's he was part of a band called Faith who headlined theatres and opened for some amazing artists including Fleetwood Mac, the Doobie Brothers, Thin Lizzy, the Allman Brothers, REO, Foreigner Hall and Oates and Peter Frampton. After one more brief brush with fame as part of the duo Blinding Tears, signed to Billy Gaff (Rod Stewart, John Mellencamp), he decided to devote himself to writing for other artists and never looked back.

Mark now lives local to Nashville and calls on his decades of experience in the publishing world, as an artist on major labels, co-writer with everyone from Eliot Kennedy and Burt Bacharach to Simon Climie and Kye Fleming, composing, and recording to mentor clients around the globe with iDoCoach. The book provides guidance on how to get your song going, how to keep it going, and what steps to take once your song is finished. It's all neatly packed, from rhymes to chords to publishers and PROs. Mark is also a judge for the UK Songwriting Contest, Nashville Rising Star, Belmont University's Commercial Music program, and West Coast Songwriter events. He's also a contributing author to USA Songwriting and Songwriter Magazine, a sponsor for the Australian Songwriting Association, and a mentor for The Songwriting Academy.
