PRESS RELEASE 4/4/06: SONGWRITERS SHOWCASE 15th ANNIVERSARY PARTYRock legends Bonnie Raitt and Randy Bachman (BTO, The Guess Who) turned up at London's longest-running weekly songwriter's showcase, "The Original Songwriters", last night (April 3rd), to celebrate at the club's 15th anniversary party. The pair had not met before but are great admirers of each other's work. Bonnie starts her latest UK/European tour in Manchester on April 7th in support of her recent 'Souls Alike' album (Capitol), while Vancouver-based Randy ("You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet") is in town for co-writing sessions and talks with publishers and record labels about his current projects. "The Original Songwriters" has been run on a weekly basis by Pam Robbins and Lisa Boni since 1991, and has played host to well over 3,000 songwriter/artists, many of whom who have been discovered at the club's west London location, and gone on to great things. Star performers have included such names as Tori Amos, Gabrielle, Chaka Khan, Imogen Heap, Caron Wheeler (Soul II Soul), Howard Jones, Peter Cunnah (D:Ream), Angie Brown and Billie Myers, while the "All Stars" house band features the cream of London's top session musicians and vocalists. The showcase takes place every Monday night, and is supported by SongLink International, the No. 1 songwriting & music publishing resource.
