BELOW 1: Leona Lewis recently rocketed to No. 1 on the US singles chart with Bleeding Love (Syco/J/Sony BMG). The X-Factor winner has become the first British female artist to top the Billboard Hot 100 in over 20 years, matching Kim Wilde's success with You Keep Me Hangin' On in 1987. Bleeding Love has already reached number one in over 25 countries worldwide, including Australia, France, Germany, Ireland and the UK. The song was written by Ryan Tedder and Jesse McCartney, and is published by Kobalt Music/Warner Chappell. Pictured with Leona in New York is J / Arista Records CEO Clive Davis, who was instrumental in A&R'ing Lewis's debut album Spirit along with Simon Cowell.
BELOW 2: Neil Young was recently in the UK to give an outstanding series of concerts, including a string of dates at Hammersmith Apollo. Pictured with him backstage are longtime friend Randy Bachman, whom he grew up with in Winnipeg, Canada; and Bruce Welch of the Shadows, who attended the show along with drummer Brian Bennett. Like Randy, Neil Young has been a huge Shadows fan since boyhood, but has never seen the band live. He opened every concert with his song From Hank To Hendrix (from Harvest Moon), which many mistakenly think refers to Hank Williams, but in fact pays tribute to Hank Marvin. |
