JAMIE LONSDALE APPOINTED PATRON OF GET MUSICIANS WORKING

JAMIE LONSDALE APPOINTED PATRON OF GET MUSICIANS WORKING

London, December 2020: Get Musicians Working is a UK-wide project to provide work for struggling musicians through the Covid-19 pandemic. One-third of professional musicians have not been able to access emergency support and as a result many are considering giving up their careers as performance opportunities are curtailed. Musicians have been forced to find alternative work from supermarket assistants to delivery drivers. As a result of these testing times, the Get Musicians Working concept was created.

The Get Musicians Working project is run by The Emery Foundation, a registered micro-trust charity. It will provide grants to musicians who are in need, and in return they will create inspirational content for beginner & young musicians. This world-class material will then be freely shared on a new digital platform called Ted's List. By giving grants to these pro-musicians, The Emery Foundation hope to encourage them to stay in the Arts and not become one of the 34% who are considering abandoning their career in music.

Ted's List was the idea of conductor, pianist and record producer Robert Emery, who comments: "Get Musicians Working isn't going to save lives. It isn't going to find a treatment for cancer. But during this period of enforced closure for the entertainment industry, it will help keep musicians in the career they've trained their whole life for. If we don't do this, the nation will be a very quiet place. Imagine no music during films or TV, or in the theatre or venues - life will seem rather hollow; black and white. It's unimaginable, which is why I'm so passionate and determined to make a change. So, continue supporting life changing causes - but consider helping to Get Musicians Working, so your life can be colourful again."

Robert is delighted to announce that the first official patron of Get Musicians Working is the singer-songwriter tenor,Jamie Lonsdale. Jamie first heard about the project when he employed 80 musicians to record some tracks with him, just after the first Lockdown restrictions were lifted. Many of those pro musicians were already being helped by www.getmusiciansworking.org. Jamie comments:

"I have spent the last 25 years helping singers, in a very small way, on their journey to fulfil their dreams. Now more than ever before, professional musicians need financial support particularly whilst concerts are banned. The vast majority of musicians are self-employed, and many fall through the net of government assistance. As a result, too many musicians are leaving the profession after many years of academic training and experience. What was it all for... stacking shelves? This is why I support Get Musicians Working". What would life be like without our musicians, concerts and musicals? Let's hope that the Royal Albert Hall never reduces to being our National Music Museum. What a thought!"

Jamie's financial input has made a huge impact, with musicians directly financially benefiting. Jamie has been in a position to start his recording career, later on in life than the norm, singing was always his passion and hobby. He has recently released his brand-new studio album 'Footprints' and has just featured on BBC Songs Of Praise so has felt extremely lucky to still be able to work through the pandemic. Music has also been Jamie's saviour and helped him overcome huge turmoil in his life and helped him to grieve when his baby son passed away. Its healing and life changing impact helped him to switch careers and gave him the confidence to pursue a professional singing career. Being in a position where he can now help other musicians out, at the time in their lives when they really need someone to dig deep and actually have a direct personal impact, has been achieved by Jamie's involvement in the Get Musicians Working project. The Emery Foundation is incredibly grateful for his support.
