First bands announced for City Showcase: Spotlight London 4-8 May 2011
City Showcase, the year-round music festival promoting the talent of the future, has today pre-announced the first five artists on the bill of its centre-piece event, Spotlight London, in the West End from 4 - 8 May 2011.The early-bird five were selected to perform at the five day new music event from the hundreds of applications that were made via the gig booking website

City Showcase promoter Nanette Rigg says, 'These five artists are exceptionally talented and we can't wait to get them on the City Showcase: Spotlight London stages in the West End in May.'
'City Showcase has introduced many new artists who've gone on to become household names - Amy Winehouse, Keane, Razorlight, Scouting for Girls - and we're as excited with our first announcements for 2011 as we have been for some years.'

The Critical
The Critical say they deliver 'lyrically exposed stories of social politics, society's taboos and human nature, combined with powerful vocals, exuberant guitar lines and heart pounding, adrenaline fuelled drum beats'. They launched their career by winning a local radio talent competition in Surrey. They released their debut album, Where Do We Go From Here in mid-2010.

Chloe Jones
Chloe describes her music as emotional and powerful, combining her unique and expressive voice with sounds and instrumentation that result in 'something enchanting' and contemporary. Chloe, from Nova Scotia, has just finished recording her first Ep called 'Old Palace'.

Katalina Kicks
Hard hitting West London rock band Katalina Kicks cite the Clash, the Kinks and Nirvana as influences. Formed in late 2008, the band's first single 145 was released to critical acclaim. Their second single, Me, has just been released and a debut album is due in March 2011. They have a track featured in the forthcoming US film The Ledge and they hope to spend some time in 2011 touring in the States.

Moon Visionaries
Steve Lamacq's Unsigned Band of the Week, a Track of the Day for Q Magazine and an NME Breakthrough Band of the Day, who described London-based Moon Visionaries' music as 'unashamed, feel-good, glossy groove-pop'.
