CITY SHOWCASE IN NEW ZEALAND

SongLink-supported event City Showcase is being held for the first time outside the UK from 25-28th November 2010, following nine successful years in London. At City Showcase: Spotlight New Zealand, new and emerging musicians will be given the opportunity to perform at gigs in and around the picturesque town of Napier's Art Deco city centre. The event culminates in an audience led competition, Finding the Future, with the ultimate winner playing City Showcase London in May 2011. The winner will also perform at the Mission Winery Concert in 2011. A judging panel made up of leaders from the music industry will be in Napier to judge the competition and the public will also have a chance to vote.
Organised by City Showcase founder Nanette Rigg, the event is supported by The Radio Network in New Zealand that is running a competition to perform at the festival and will be promoting it widely as NZ media partner. The response from New Zealand and Australian performers has been enormous and the event is being greeted with enthusiasm and energy. The event is designed to showcase the talent of new musicians and allows a platform for artists to perform to both the public and the cream of the New Zealand music industry.
The [Finding The Future programme will give artists, bands, songwriters and those interested in the music business an opportunity to attend workshops and put their questions to panels of industry experts including Campbell Smith (CEO of The Recording Industry Association of New Zealand Inc (RIANZ), who also has his own Management company, CRS Music Management Limited), Ian James (Managing Director, Mushroom Music Publishing, Australia), Paul McLaney (Mushroom Music, New Zealand), Ann Harrison (Harrisons Entertainment Law Limited - renowned international music lawyer), David Hitchcock (record producer and music industry accountant), Hamish Pinkham (Rhythm & Vine) and others.
If you would like to participate as a performer, if you have artists touring in Australasia in November or would like to be on workshop panels please email the address below. The application deadline for performers is 15 July 2010.
