SONGLINK AT ABBEY ROAD STUDIOS
SongLink editor David Stark was a guest at Abbey Road Studios for the fifth annual Sound & Vision charity auction in aid of Cancer Research UK on February 25th, which raised over £200,000. David is pictured with Beth Nielsen Chapman who performed at the event along with Robert Plant and the London Oriana Choir conducted by David Drummond, in a spectacular performance in Abbey Road's cavernous Studio 1. Hosted by charity patron Bob Harris, the evening also featured performances by David Gray and Newton Faulkner, while special guests onstage before the auction included Sir George Martin, Cynthia Lennon and Barbara Orbison, who donated a Gibson guitar and other items in her late husband Roy's memory. The event coincided with the good news earlier this week that Abbey Road will now not be sold off by owners EMI, with the UK government stepping in to give the building special 'listed' status to prevent any future development, a move heralded on the night by Sir George Martin.
